WELCOME TO

A SHORT HISTORY
OF THE
JESPER FAMILY

In 1916, William A. Jesper of Claremont, Marygate, York, England, wrote "A Short History of the Jesper Family from the Seventeenth Century to the Present Time." The text of that work is here.
Now it is 84 years later. The world has seen two World Wars, the expansion of the average world through automobile and air travel, a wealth of information exchange through the invention of the television, the home computer, and the Internet. Communism has risen and fallen. There really has been too many changes to list--the world has changed in the 20th century much faster than any time previous.

In March 1916, Anita Jesper was born on Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA. The information could not reach William Jesper in England quickly enough to be included in the new publication. In my copy of the manuscript, her name is handwritten, likely by an American member of the family.
Anita Jesper, my maternal grandmother, died in 1997. Her brother Hugh, listed as the youngest child of that family prior to Anita and the longest surviving member of that family, died two months ago at age 92. Obviously they and the other Jespers listed as children in the manuscript have themselves has children who have had children who have children.
Although I am not a Jesper, what I saw of Mr. Jesper's work is extremely interesting--It would make a great model as to how a genealogy should be presented. Eventually I would like to update it, though such a project would clearly be monumental. At this point, his manuscript will be made available, and any updates I may have will be presented separately.
Whether you are or are not a Jesper, I hope what you find here is interesting and useful. The original manuscript does not appear to be copyrighted, and neither will the contents of this website be. Any new information anyone may give on modern day members of the Jesper family would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless,
